- Honor 20i with 4GB of RAM has been launched in India at Rs 14,999.
- The Redmi Note 7 Pro offers a 48MP dual camera setup.
- The Realme 3 Pro gets a Snapdragon 710 chipset and supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging.
The fact that the Honor 20i is priced under Rs 15,000 instantly puts in the crosshairs of the Redmi Note 7 Pro (Review) and the Realme 3 Pro (Review), which are currently some of the best phones you can find in this segment. Based on the specs on paper alone (as we are yet to review the Honor 20i), here’s a look at how the Honor phone stands in comparison with the competition.
Honor 20i vs Redmi Note 7 Pro vs Realme 3 Pro: Design and display
When we talk about the design, one thing is pretty common among all three phones – they all come with waterdrop displays. The Honor 20i sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ display and so do the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro. The quality of the panel used may differ, but you’re essentially getting the same size and bezel-free displays across the board.
The Honor 20i is notably sleeker and lighter compared to the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro. It measures 7.95mm in thickness and weighs only 164 grams, while the Realme phone is 8.3mm thick and weighs 172 grams and the Redmi device measures 8.1mm in thickness and weighs a hefty 186 grams.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro weighs more because it is the only one among the three to offer Gorilla Glass 5 on the back, while the other two sport curved plastic panels. This makes the Redmi phone feel more premium in hand, but all three devices look great in some attractive gradient colours.
The Honor 20i is available in Midnight Black, Phantom Red, Phantom Blue colours, while the Relame 3 Pro comes in Lightning Purple, Nitro Blue, Carbon Grey colours and the Redmi Note 7 Pro is offered in Neptune Blue, Space Black and Nebula Red colours. All three phones offer rear-mounted fingerprint sensors. Only the Realme 3 Pro offers a triple card slot for dual Nano SIMs and a microSD card, while the Honor 20i and Redmi Note 7 Pro come with hybrid slots. Meanwhile, only the Redmi phone comes with a Type-C port, while the other two offer microUSB ports.
Honor 20i vs Redmi Note 7 Pro vs Realme 3 Pro: Hardware
The Honor 20i is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Kirin 710 chipset with a Mali G51 GPU and the phone supports GPU Turbo 2.0 for enhanced gaming performance. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 675 chipset with Adreno 612 GPU, while the Realme 3 Pro gets a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 710 AIE processor with Adreno 616 GPU. The Honor 20i is available with 4GB of RAM, while you can buy the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro with up to 6GB of RAM.
All three phones should offer snappy performance when it comes to running day to day operations, but the Realme 3 Pro does get an edge when it comes to gaming performance thanks to a faster GPU. The Honor 20i should also get some help with GPU Turbo 2.0 while gaming.
Honor 20i vs Redmi Note 7 Pro vs Realme 3 Pro: Camera
Coming to the cameras, the Honor 20i is the only one among the three to sport a triple camera setup. It gets a 24-megapixel f/1.8 primary camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. That being said, the dual cameras on the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro are among the best you will find in this segment.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro is the one to beat with a 48MP Sony IMX 586 main camera that can capture ultra detailed stills. It also gets a 5MP depth camera. The Realme 3 Pro, meanwhile, sports 16MP f/1.7 Sony IMX519 primary sensor and a 5MP secondary depth sensing camera.
Up front, the Honor 20i gets a higher 32MP selfie camera while the Realme 3 Pro sports a 25MP front-facing sensor and the Redmi Note 7 Pro gets a 13MP sensor. This would suggest that the Honor 20i will capture sharper selfies, but we can only know this for sure after an in-depth review. Notably, all three phones offer dedicated Night modes for brighter low-light shots.
Honor 20i vs Redmi Note 7 Pro vs Realme 3 Pro: Software
All three smartphones ship with Android Pie with some heavy custom skins on top. The Honor 20i comes with EMUI 9 which brings a host of preloaded apps ike HiCare, Party Mode, Ride Mode, Honor Club and Vigo Video. Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with MIUI 10 which also brings a tonne of bloatware such as Mi Browser, Daily Hunt and Share Chat. MIUI is also notorious for pushing ads, something Xiaomi seems to be cutting back on. The Realme 3 Pro ships with ColorOS 6.0 with preloaded apps like Amazon, DailyHunt, NewsPoint, ShareChat, Wynk Music and UC Browser. Suffice it to say that all three phones offer plenty bloatware and heavy customisations.
Honor 20i vs Redmi Note 7 Pro vs Realme 3 Pro: Battery
The Honor 20i comes with the smallest battery among the three with a 3,400mAh capacity. It also lacks fast charging support and you get a standard 10W charger with the box. The Redmi Note 7 Pro offers a large 4,000mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 4, but the box ships with a standard 10W charger. The Realme 3 Pro, on the other hand, houses a 4,045mAh battery, supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging and you also get a 20W charging brick with the box.
